Stories From the Lineup: Nalani Keawe

A female surfer gazes across rocky tide pools at golden hour, wearing a teal long-sleeve rash guard and dark board shorts, her loose waves catching the sunset light. She designed the “Weave” sticker for Aloha Tinyboards (finger sized mini foam surfboard) as part of their Stories from the Lineup series, infusing woven pattern motifs and warm island hues into the collection.

Nalani Keawe

Raised on Maui. Nalani works as a graphic designer to support her addiction to boba.

"Please don't invite me to go hiking with you, I hate it and I'm embracing that about myself."

They said it was a light hike. They lied. I brought snacks like we were going on a picnic.

Fifteen minutes in, I was bargaining with the mountain to take me quickly. I saw a goat judging me from the cliffside.

A literal goat. By the summit, I had invented seven new curse words and disassociated twice.

Please don’t invite me hiking. I’m not outdoorsy. I’m barely doorsy.
